Interior architecture and design and branding services for L’Oréal’s 66,000 SF corporate operations headquarters renovation. This office and laboratory facility serves the North America, Central America, and South America regions. The new space implemented a new flexible office concept and converted private office space into unassigned open work stations, increasing seating capacity and focusing on collaboration and social interaction. The facility houses two labs: a compatibility lab and a homologation lab. The homologation lab is for testing packaging and components of the products such as bottles, caps, nozzles, etc. The compatibility lab is for testing the product itself for stability and quality.

Architecture and interior design services for a 297,000 SF retail building including retail display space, warehouse, offices, childcare areas and two restaurants. The project also includes an integrated parking structure and truck loading area totaling 359,000 SF. The structure incorporates 398,000 SF of at grade parking below the retail building, and two raised levels of parking and truck loading areas that wrap around the retail building. The highly complex structure combines the use of deep pile foundations, pre-cast double TT Parking decks, and steel frame structure, with metal exterior wall panels.

Time Warner Flagship Experience Store

Interior architecture and design services for a 14,000 SF Time Warner Cable Flagship Experience Store located in a historic building in the Flatiron District of New York City. The new store welcomes guests with a modern, open floor plan to serve as a place to learn and try Time Warner Cable’s interactive TV, Internet, Phone and IntelligentHome products and services. The full-service site also provides payment processing, as well as equipment pick-up and return, free WiFi and multiple mobile charging stations throughout the store.

Golden State Foods Cold Storage

Architectural and interior design services for a 156,691 SF distribution center and a two-story corporate, Class A office. This design-build project includes a two-story lobby, a demonstration kitchen, a break room and an event space. The warehouse features 40-foot clear height with custom build-to-suit bay spacing and is split into three temperature zones for cooler, freezer and dry warehouse areas. The cooler and freezer utilize a carbon dioxide cascade refrigeration system. There is also an 8,539 SF truck maintenance building with an automated truck wash that uses recycled water. The project also features an on-site hydrogen generation plant to power hydrogen fuel cells for material handling equipment in the warehouse. The project has attained LEED Gold certification.

Compass 12435 Park Potomac

Interior architecture and design services for a 7,000 SF office space. The design team worked with Compass to develop a retail-oriented street front presence for the project. The location’s retail frontage design uniquely highlights their customer service model and property offerings.

Following Compass’s established design concept, the Potomac office location welcomes visitors with a marble reception desk and a half-height wall wrapped in a black wood herringbone veneer with prominent company logo. A conference room is located directly off the reception for easy guest access and street views. The open office area beyond features a bright and airy feel with high exposed ceilings, which along with the walls are finished all in white.

Contrasting this bright aesthetic are black carpet tile, linear LED pendant lights and black-framed glass office fronts. Pendant fixtures above the workstations were installed on an angle to provide the feeling of movement in the space. A common feature in Compass’ designs, shared team rooms replace individual offices and range in size to accommodate two to five people each. The office design incorporates a generously sized eat-in pantry with a long high-top table and kitchen amenities integrated into black and white millwork highlighted by penny-tile backsplash.

Since 2020, Ware Malcomb has worked with Compass to design more than 80 offices across 20 states.

Henkel North American Beauty Hair Care Headquarters

Interior architecture and branding services for Henkel’s new 55,000 SF North American Beauty Care Hair Professional headquarters, designed to foster creativity through engagement and interaction. The project consolidates several of Henkel’s brands that were originally located across the United States to the new Culver City location. The open office space promotes cross-brand collaboration, with custom environmental graphics to highlight each brand’s distinct identity. The headquarters includes a multi-branded Academy of Hair learning center with full salon capabilities where events and educational training can be hosted to showcase products to customers, social influencers, and professionals. By incorporating the latest workplace strategy innovations and dynamic branded elements, the one-of-a-kind headquarters enables Henkel to remain at the cutting edge of the professional hair care industry. Ware Malcomb has worked on over 25 projects for Henkel since 2008.

Interior architecture and design, branding and civil engineering services for a 61,000 SF facility on a Ware Malcomb designed campus. The project includes an 8,300 SF customer experience center, open and private offices, R&D labs, warehouse, work cafe, and conference/collaboration areas.

The Customer Experience Center includes several meeting rooms, open collaboration areas, a demonstration fuselage, a reconfigurable product display wall, a multi-screen digital display wall, and several supporting spaces, such as a business center, a coffee bar area with a large island for catered food, and a prayer room for international visitors.

Toyota Financial Services DSCW

Workplace strategy, interior architecture and branding services for TFS DSC West. Toyota Financial Services West is a 56,219 square foot workplace organized into neighborhoods with a variety of spaces to support employees’ unique work styles and changing needs. Focus zones, formal meeting environments and informal collaboration spaces provide flexible and dynamic options for various work types. The office contains individual seating for 300 employees and features exposed ceilings to facilitate an open, bright and functional space. Ware Malcomb utilized nature-inspired materials such as stone, wood and greenery for a coastal aesthetic, creating a biophilic connection between people and nature.

The Experience Center West project achieved LEED v4 ID+C: CI, Gold Level certification. Ware Malcomb worked in collaboration with Verde, the sustainability consultant, to execute strategic goals focused on minimizing waste and energy while maximizing efficiency and enhancing the health and well-being of employees and guests. Ware Malcomb’s in-house branding team designed a branded environment, signage and custom graphics for a curated tour path within the office for visitors and employees to experience a unique journey through the company’s sustainability history and mission.
