Architectural design services for Canada’s first mass timber industrial warehouse. This 246,000 SF industrial warehouse is one of three warehouses. The project comprises of 40ft high Glulam columns, 55ft and 60ft long Glulam beams and 250,000 SF of 3-ply cross-laminated timber. The mass timber used provides a 62% decrease in embodied carbon emissions as compared to a steel skeleton structure. The perimeter steel support framing was maintained utilizing innovative carbon-reducing SIN-Beam technology. The building is pursuing LEED Silver certification.

Executive Architect for two story Class A office building with underground parking area.  The project included 20,613 SF of office and 9,142 SF of parking garage with Type V-B construction. The building was designed with a steel frame, metal deck with concrete floors with Euro-Contemporary design with exposed steel columns, cream colored Travertine exterior walls, clear Vistacool Atlantica glazing in Champaign colored anodized aluminum curtain wall. The entry lobby is two story structural glass with suspended mezzanine and walnut trimmed floating stair. The project included many LEED design elements such as operable windows, mecho shades, permeable site paving, water reducing landscape, solar panels, and highly energy efficient envelope. The mecho shades are designed to function as part of the mechanical system and operated by a building management computer system. The project is LEED Platinum certified.

Architectural and interior design services for a new 175,000 SF cold storage industrial freezer storage facility with a 56′ clear ceiling height and custom build-to-suit bay spacing in the freezer space. The project included approximately 9,168 SF of office space. The project incorporates sustainable design features which include upgraded HVAC and low flow plumbing fixtures. The landscaping, which only includes native species, will not require an irrigation system. During construction a minimum of 50% of construction waste will be diverted from landfills and 10% of the materials used in the construction of the building will be regionally produced and manufactured. The interiors incorporate low-VOC materials and certified wood. The project has achieved LEED-NC Gold Certification.

Architecture and interior design services for a new 680,000 SF corporate headquarters for a wine and spirits facility. The project includes 139,000 SF of office and 541,000 SF of distribution warehouse space. The scope consists of the consolidation of the operations of two existing facilities into one new centralized corporate headquarters with a focus on branding and hospitality services. The lobby features a double story atrium, monumental stair and glass operable partition to adjoining spirits tasting/function room. Multiple sales teams have dedicated training rooms and conference areas.  The warehouse integrates the wine and spirits industry’s most advanced material handling systems and technologies. Martignetti Companies is LEED-NC Silver Certified.

Architectural and interior design services for a 156,691 SF distribution center and a two-story corporate, Class A office. This design-build project includes a two-story lobby, a demonstration kitchen, a break room and an event space. The warehouse features 40-foot clear height with custom build-to-suit bay spacing and is split into three temperature zones for cooler, freezer and dry warehouse areas. The cooler and freezer utilize a carbon dioxide cascade refrigeration system. There is also an 8,539 SF truck maintenance building with an automated truck wash that uses recycled water. The project also features an on-site hydrogen generation plant to power hydrogen fuel cells for material handling equipment in the warehouse. The project has attained LEED Gold certification.

Workplace strategy, interior architecture and branding services for TFS DSC West. Toyota Financial Services West is a 56,219 square foot workplace organized into neighborhoods with a variety of spaces to support employees’ unique work styles and changing needs. Focus zones, formal meeting environments and informal collaboration spaces provide flexible and dynamic options for various work types. The office contains individual seating for 300 employees and features exposed ceilings to facilitate an open, bright and functional space. Ware Malcomb utilized nature-inspired materials such as stone, wood and greenery for a coastal aesthetic, creating a biophilic connection between people and nature.

The Experience Center West project achieved LEED v4 ID+C: CI, Gold Level certification. Ware Malcomb worked in collaboration with Verde, the sustainability consultant, to execute strategic goals focused on minimizing waste and energy while maximizing efficiency and enhancing the health and well-being of employees and guests. Ware Malcomb’s in-house branding team designed a branded environment, signage and custom graphics for a curated tour path within the office for visitors and employees to experience a unique journey through the company’s sustainability history and mission.

Suntech is the world’s largest manufacturer of silicon solar modules.  The new 117,000 SF facility features the latest technology in manufacturing and testing equipment for photovoltaic panels. It includes branded guest reception area and a touring skywalk overlooking the manufacturing process area. This innovative module production facility has an initial 30 megawatt of annual capacity and employs more than 75 operators, engineers and professionals.

Full service interior design, branding, LEED, WELL and construction management services for a 900 m2 (9,687 SF) corporate headquarters for Vesta. To cater to Vesta’s dynamic multi-generational work force and meet WELL’s guidelines, the building floor plan was divided into four different zones: the Focus Zone supports work that requires concentration; the Interactive Zone is designed to bring employees together in formal and informal settings; the Quiet Zone helps staff to refresh and reenergize by stepping away from technology; and the Teaming Zone enables team members to work together with collaborative digital tools. Creating distinct, yet cohesive zones visually connects the overall open office environment to the collaborative spaces, conference center and other amenities, including a canteen and break room for employees. The contemporary design aesthetic incorporates the Vesta “V” and other aspects of the brand. Forward-thinking technology is also integrated throughout the space, from the Lutron window shades to the telepresence capabilities in the conference rooms.

Architectural design services for a 707,056 SF multi-storey distribution building. The project is located on a 23.45-acre site and has a ground floor of 437,000 square feet with 32-foot clear heights. The second story, accessible to full-size transport trailers via a long service ramp, consists of 270,000 square feet, 28-foot clear heights and a 130-foot truck court where trucks can circulate. The heated exterior ramp allows for 53-foot trailers to make deliveries. Assorted mechanical rooms, a leasing office and storage space are located below the ramp. Loading docks are constructed of precast concrete and the office areas are made of insulated metal panels.
